This is the care and maintenance part of your Dental Care. At your regular maintenance, or check-up appointment we will identify any issues that need to be addressed to maintain comfort and function and keep your smile happy and healthy. General treatments may include repair of cavities or broken teeth, replacement of defective or discoloured fillings and dealing with any soft tissue problems. By maintaining healthy teeth you can often avoid the pain associated with more extensive damage. Our experienced dentists and efficient caring chair-side assistants take extra care to make you relaxed and comfortable.
Preventive care is at the heart of our practice. Our services include regular cleaning and check-ups for early signs of decay, as well as to look over existing dental restorations. Dental X-rays also help us identify dental issues before serious damage occurs. We will always chat with you about any treatments or techniques to help improve your oral health too, such as fluoride treatments and managing your daily routine. We also show our patients correct brushing and flossing techniques, and this alone can prevent most ongoing dental diseases. Other preventive treatments include fissure sealants, occlusal splints that are also referred to as nightguards, and sports mouthguards.
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns are used to restore strength and function to a tooth that has been damaged or weakened by cracks or trauma, large fillings, decay or other factors. Crowns restore both strength and beauty while protecting your teeth underneath. Bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. The teeth at each end of the gap are prepared for a crown and the bridge is permanently fixed to these teeth. With todays advancements in dental technology porcelain bridges are remarkably strong, giving you back your beautiful, confident smile for years to come. The laboratory for our crown and bridge work is done by a local, leading Australian dental laboratory. We avoid cheaper offshore options as we believe crowns are an important lifetime investment that should be of the highest quality and durability.
Endodontics or Root Canal Therapy
When your tooth has damage from decay cracks or trauma, bacteria can invade the innermost part of a tooth, known as the pulp. Root canal therapy involves cleaning and shaping the inside of the tooth to remove inflamed pulp and eliminating all bacteria with medicaments. The root canals are then carefully filled and sealed, and a protective filling or crown placed to strengthen the tooth. Root canal treatment, also known as endodontics, makes it possible to save a tooth which would otherwise need to be extracted. Your tooth will be anaesthetised and treatment is quite comfortable. After treatment analgesics are sometimes required for a day or two.
We believe that trips to the dentist should be as fun as possible for children, to help foster healthy oral habits for life. It’s also often recommended by dental professionals to bring your child in for their first dental check-up when their first teeth appear, and this can be done at the time of your own maintenance or check-up appointment in a relaxed no-pressure environment. Sometimes children are shy or anxious, so the first visit might just be a ride in the chair with Mum or Dad. We would love to help make sure your child feels comfortable and confident when visiting a dentist throughout their lives.
If you’re hiding your smile, then we would hope you book an appointment with our team to discuss how we can help bring your smile back. While we can offer comprehensive cosmetic treatments, including porcelain crowns and veneers and implants, often simple bonding to correct wear or chipping, or replacement of discoloured fillings can make your teeth more beautiful. Our friendly, highly experienced team will work with you to make sure you’re on the road to getting your confidence back.
Nitrous Oxide - Your comfort first
If you need it, we can provide a gentle amount of nitrous oxide to help you feel at ease during your appointment. Also known as happy gas, nitrous oxide is effective and safe. We also have TV screens available for viewing during your appointment if you like, either way, know that our team are first and foremost on your side.
