Professional Teeth Whitening

We have great news. In most cases, we can make your teeth whiter to show your beautiful smile. We take impressions and create moulds of your teeth to customise thin, flexible whitening trays.

We will show you how to use these at home, and we will also provide a whitening kit with whitening gel and detailed instructions. Usually, excellent results take about three or four weeks of using your whitening trays for 45 minutes each day.

In a small number of cases, increased teeth sensitivity develops, but we easily manage this with desensitising toothpaste or gel. It can also help to take a day or two off between whitening treatments. Sensitivity is temporary and will subside.

If you have tooth-coloured fillings, they may need replacement after whitening, as the whitening treatment won't change their colour.

Smile-Improving Veneers

Veneers are an excellent way of restoring a beautiful smile when one or more teeth are chipped, discoloured or poorly shaped. This can often be done with tooth-coloured filling materials in a single appointment.

Can you help me with my short-looking teeth?

If your teeth look small, worn or short, our dentists will evaluate your bite to determine if you have bruxism, or a teeth grinding, habit. Common signs of bruxism include worn or chipped teeth and bite marks along the inside of the cheeks.

To protect teeth, we create custom nightguards to wear during sleep. A nightguard, or bruxism splint, can protect teeth from cracks and wear.

If you want to restore your short-looking teeth, dental veneers on front teeth will add length and cover any damage caused by excessive wear. Crowns on posterior (back) teeth rebuild the bite and reduce sensitivity when chewing. To protect dentistry, we recommend the use of a nightguard every night, as teeth grinding can damage dental crowns and veneers similar to the natural teeth.

Teeth may also look short due to excessive gum tissue, or a gummy smile. Crown lengthening and gingival sculpting reshape the gum tissue, exposing more of the tooth structure. Gingival sculpting improves the smile in conjunction with veneers or on its own.

Dr Zimmermann graduated from the University of Queensland in 1978. After working on Thursday Island for two years, he moved to Cairns to work on the Cairns Base Hospital ‘Flying Dental Run,’ servicing towns on Cape York.

Dr Zimmermann worked for several years in Mossman Hospital Dental Clinic.

He moved to the Sunshine Coast to work at the Nambour Hospital Clinic in 1984. Dr Zimmermann spent the following six years in private practice in Tewantin before starting Mooloolah Dental in October 1995. He enjoys the challenge of solving the full range of ...
